          Selous Highlights
Male Oribi Antelope – Selous Safari
This 4-day safari focuses on the Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania’s largest and most unique parks and is perfect for those guests who wish to experience the outstanding wildlife, beauty, and eco-systems of a true safari bush experience in the amazing Selous Game Reserve.
The vast majority of Tanzania’s elephant herds live in one remote stretch of wilderness – the Selous Tanzania Game Reserve. A feature of the Selous safari itinerary is the opportunity to participate in classic style game drives as well as boat and walking safaris. Transportation from Dar es Salaam to Selous Game Reserve and back is by airplane. Thus, there is less travel time than some of the other safaris.
Day 1 – Pick up from Dar es Salaam city center and drop off at the local airport to catch your flight to the Selous. The Selous is one of the most remote and seldom visited game park in Africa, but at 55,000 square kilometers, it is the world’s largest game reserve.  The area can be explored by boat, sailing through swamps and lagoons where elephant often come to bathe, or even by foot. Enjoy a late lunch at the Rufiji River Camp. Embark on an afternoon game drive and then return to Camp for dinner and overnight. Dinner and overnight at Rufiji River Camp.
Day 2 – Enjoy a full day game viewing. The Selous has the world’s largest number of big game, more than 120,000 elephants, 160,000 buffaloes and about 2,000 rhinoceros. In addition, the Selous contains Africa’s greatest concentration of hippopotamus, crocodiles and wild dogs. Waterbuck, southern reed buck and bushbuck are common in the Selous. Rare sable antelope, lion and greater kudu also frequent this area. Meals and overnight at Rufiji River Camp.
Day 3 – After breakfast accompany an armed ranger on a waking safari.  The Selous is one of few Tanzanian reserves to allow walking tours. The sights and sounds of a walking safari are a special treat. The defining feature of the Selous is the great Rufiji River.  In the afternoon, enjoy a boat safari where you will explore the Rufiji River System, surrounded by hippos and crocodiles. A large variety of herons, storks, ducks, stilts, and other water birds may be seen. And you also see land mammals, such as giraffe and elephants. Meals and overnight at Rufiji River Camp.
Day 4 – Enjoy a morning game drive. Early lunch at the camp, followed by transfer to the airstrip for departure on a scheduled flight to Dar es Salaam. On arrival at Dar es Salaam Airport, you will be met and transferred to the city centre. We trust you have enjoyed a true adventure of a lifetime!
