Northern Circuit Highlights
Snarling lioness – Serengeti – Don’t mess with her!
5 day Tanzania safari – Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire & Lake Manyara
This 5 day Tanzania safari covers all the Northern Circuit safari (Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Manyara & Tarangire) country providing you with time to experience the highlights of the vast depth and breadth of wildlife, eco-systems and the treasures of Tanzania’s North.
Day 1 – The 5 day safari tour starts with lunch in Arusha town at 12:30hrs. At 14:00hrs join your experienced professional safari guide in our 4X4 safari vehicle and drive to Lake Manyara. Enjoy an evening game drive in the Lake Manyara National Park. This is one of the most diverse of Tanzania’s national parks, a tiny (325km²) combination of Rift Valley Lake, dense woodlands and steep mountainside. Manyara is a birding paradise (more than 380 species) as well as hippos, monkeys, tree climbing lions, and many other animals. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 2 – After an early breakfast, drive to Serengeti National Park. Serengeti is Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park, also a world heritage site and recently proclaimed a 7th worldwide wonder. The Serengeti is famed for its annual migration, when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. The Serengeti offers arguably the most scintillating game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant’s gazelle. Lunch at the lodge. Spend the afternoon game viewing for a chance to see the great herds of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles or a pride of lions lounging in the shade. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 – Depart for an early morning around your lodge, return to the lodge for breakfast. Mid morning, depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Ngorongoro’s natural beauty ranks it among the most pristine wildernesses on earth.  It is the largest intact crater in the world, being 610 meters deep, 19 kilometers across and covering an area of 304 square kilometers. On the crater floor, grassland blends into swamps, lakes, rivers, woodland and mountains – all a haven for wildlife, including the largest predator population in Africa. The volcanic crater is jam-packed with wildlife, including all the big game. Its pride and joy, however, is that it remains the last great wild refuge for black rhino.  Lunch at the lodge. This afternoon, you will descend 2000 feet to the crater floor  for a half-day crater tour. Explore the forest areas that are inhabited by elephants, the lake area, where you may see flamingos and the savannah where the lions hunt for food. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 4 – After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park arriving in time for lunch and an afternoon of game viewing.  The park covers an area of 2800km², has terrain ranging from open savannah through acacia wooded-grassland, mosaic riverine vegetation. The park has the last concentration of elephants in East Africa. Lesser kudu, eland, lion and gerenuk can be found in this beautiful park. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 5 – Enjoy an early morning game drive in the Tarangire National Park. Breakfast at the lodge, followed by the drive back to Arusha with game viewing en route. Lunch in Arusha town. We trust you have enjoyed a true adventure of a lifetime!
You can choose to stay in the following lodges (or we can tailor-make a safari for you with different accommodation choices):
